What I watched in August...
It’s been a few months since I’ve done a “what I watched this month,” and truthfully that’s because I hadn’t been watching much. But alas, August came (and will soon go), and I did have time to catch up on some films…
Here are the 6 movies I watched!
Holes
This movie is my JAM!! I used to religiously watch this movie growing up. I always enjoyed the vibe and how different the concept was. While that’s what originally brought me in, I think what I enjoy so much about the movie now is how well it’s able to shift between time periods and how well the characters are portrayed. Shia LaBeouf is such a good child actor in this movie & so is Khleo Thomas for that matter! It’s so easy to become enthralled in their story and follow every other character to the end.
Clueless
Nothing like a little Clueless rewatch to get me right. This movie is the epitome of girlhood. Cher is an icon, Dionne is culturally inspirational, and everyone else is such a joy to watch on screen. This movie always makes me giggle and is just such a fun time.
Water for Elephants
Talk about emotional turmoil. This movie was all over the place, but it lowkey worked. I was emotionally invested in the characters and their storyline. Robert Pattinson did well in this post-Twilight role. Reese Witherspoon is such a treat to see in any movie. And don’t even get me started on Christoph Waltz…that man is too good at being terrifying! Good movie, an interesting watch.
The Lego Batman Movie
I haven’t seen any of the Lego franchise movies…well, hadn’t. This was so much fun, but also made me so emotional!? Why is Michael Cera’s Robin so kind (˃̣̣̥ᯅ˂̣̣̥). No, but the animation is obviously phenomenal, the story is sweet, and legos are so cute. Fun watch!
5 More Minutes
Okay, directorial debut! Michael Carlino, the one and only film director, writer (& my boyfriend ˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶) is able to create this sort of “otherworldly” story that also feels all too real. There are certainly some anxious and worrying moments that hit really well which naturally helped me enjoy the movie even more! Check it out, don’t be shy! :P
The Fantastic Four: First Steps
I’m so glad I went to see this movie in the theater. It was such a great experience. The action, the story, the villain…all of it was a pleasure to see on the big screen. The humanizing of the characters works really well here and the underlying baby plot works just as well. An overall enjoyable movie, for sure!
